Abstract A METHOD WHICH COMPRISES PROVIDING AN ACRYLIC BLANK WITH A CIRCUMFERENTIAL GROOVE HAVING A DEPTH OF AT LEAST 5% OF THE INITIAL THICKNESS OF THE BLANK AND THEREAFTER COMPRESSING THE BLANK TO CAUSE THE ACRYLIC MATERIAL TO FLOW OUTWARDLY FROM THE CENTER OF THE BLANK TO PRODUCE A COMPRESSION-STRETCHED SHEET HAVING LESS THICKNESS THAN THE BLANK. THIS METHOD REDUCES EDGE DEFECTS IN COMPRESSION STRETCHED ACRYLIC SHEETS.
