Abstract SEED CAPSULES ARE FORMED BY PREPARING A CHARGE OF SEED BED MATERIALS, SUCH AS VERMICULITE AND BINDER, COMPRESSING THE CHARGE TO FORM A BASE CAPSULE SEGMENT HAVING A RECESS THEREIN, DRYING THE BASE SEGMENT, PLACING A SEED IN THE RECESS, AND CLOSING THE RECESS TO FORM A SEEDCONTAINING CAVITY BY SECURING TO THE BASE A COVER THAT HAS BEEN PREPARED IN THE SAME MANNER AS THE BASE, OR BY SECURING A SHEET OR STRIP MEMBER OF PAPER OR PLASTIC TO THE BASE.
