Abstract THE VISCOSITY AND SHEAR MODULUS OF VISCOELASTIC MATERIALS ARE DETERMINED BY MEASURING THE PRESSURE DROP ACROSS TWO CAPILLARY TUBES IN SERIES CONNECTION. THE SECOND CAPILLARY TUBE IS ELONGATED, AND BOTH TUBES ARE OF UNIFORM DIAMETER THROUGHOUT THEIR LENGTHS. THE MATERIAL IS FORCED THROUGH THE TUBES BY A GEAR PUMP AT A KNOWN CONSTANT RATE OF SHEAR INDEPENDENT OF THE VISCOSITY OF THE VISCOELASTIC MATERIAL BEING TESTED.
