Abstract

Abstract A device for recording the blood pressure of a person comprising a cuff adapted to encircle a limb such as an arm of a person. Pressure regulating means is provided to inflate the cuff to a predetermined pressure and to deflate the cuff when the pressure reaches a preselected value. A record is mounted on a movable support, both of which are mounted on the cuff. The support is adapted to move in response to the pressure of said cuff. Writing means is provided for indicating blood pressures on the record. Actuating means responsive to the pulse beats of a person operates the writing means so that the device produces a graphic record of the blood pressure of the person undergoing examination.

Claim 1
Independent Claim 103 words
A device for recording the blood pressure of a person comprising a cuff adapted to encircle a limb of the body; a housing on said cuff; pressure regulating means in said housing for regulating the pressure in said cuff; recording means on said housing, said recording means including a record having pressure points designated thereon and further including writing means responsive to the intensity of the pulse of the person for producing, on said record, the systole and diastole; and moving means for moving one of said record and writing means relative to the other in response to the pressure of said cuff.
Claim 2
Independent Claim 103 words
A device for recording the blood pressure of a person comprising a cuff adapted to encircle a limb of the body; a housing on said cuff; pressure regulating means in said housing for regulating the pressure in said cuff; recording means on said housing, said recording means including a record having pressure points designated thereon and further including writing means responsive to the intensity of the pulse of the person for producing, on said record, the systole and diastole; and moving means for moving one of said record and writing means relative to the other in response to the pressure of said cuff.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 86 words
A device for recording the blood pressure of a person as in claim 1, in which said regulating means including first valve means adapted to be connected between a source of fluid under pressure and said cuff and being responsive to a first preselected pressure of said cuff for shutting off the flow of fluid from the source to the cuff, and second valve means responsive to a second preselected pressure in said cuff for exhausting the pressurized fluid in said cuff to deflate the cuff.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 38 words
A device for recording the blood pressure of a person as in claim 1, in which said moving means includes support means for supporting said record whereby said moving means moves said record relative to said writing means.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 58 words
A device for recording the blood pressure of a person as in claim 1, in which said writing means includes an indicating device, mounting means for mounting said indicating device above said record, and circuit means including electromechanical means for moving said indicating device into engagement with said record in response to the pulse beats of a person.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 81 words
A device for recording the blood pressure of a person as in Claim 4, in which said circuit means includes a transducer for converting pulse beats into electrical signals, amplifying means for amplifying said electrical signals, said electromechanical means comprising a solenoid having a core movable in response to the energization of said solenoid, connecting means for connecting said indicating device to said solenoid, whereby said solenoid causes said indicating device to engage said record in response to said electrical signals.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 71 words
A device for recording the blood pressure of a person as in claim 5, in which said moving means includes a rotatable record support adapted to removably receive said record thereon and to rotate said record below said indicating device in response to the pressure of said cuff, and cooperable indexing means on said record and said record support for mounting said record on said record support in a preselected orientation.
Claim 8
Independent Claim 131 words
A device for graphically determining the blood pressure of a person comprising a cuff adapted to encircle the limb of a person, a housing on said cuff, pressure regulating means in said housing for selectively inflating said cuff to a predetermined pressure and for depressurizing said cuff when the pressure reaches a preselected value, a writing station having a writing device on said housing, record means on said housing movable past said writing station in response to the pressure of said cuff, said record means including calibration means for designating the different pressures of said cuff whereby the pressure designation corresponding to the pressure of said cuff is positioned below said writing station, and actuating means for operating said writing device to engage said record means in response to pulse beats.
Claim 9
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 75 words
A device for graphically determining the blood pressure of a person as in claim 7, in which said pressure regulating means includes a first pressure regulating valve adapted to connect a source of fluid under pressure to said cuff and to disconnect said source when the pressure reaches said predetermined pressure, and a second pressure regulating valve for exhausting the pressurized fluid from said cuff when the pressure in said cuff reaches said preselected level.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 26 words
A device for graphically determining the blood pressure of a person as in claim 8, in which said first and second pressure regulating valves are variable.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim 83 words
A device for graphically determining the blood pressure of a person as in claim 7, in which said actuating means includes circuit means responsive to pulse beats of intensity equal to or higher than the diastolic pulse beat for converting the pulse beats of a person into electrical signals, and a solenoid having a core connected to said writing device for moving said writing device into engagement with said record means in response to the energization of said solenoid by said electrical signals.
Claim 13
