Abstract A MASTER CYLINDER IN WHICH A PAIR OF TILTING VALVES CONTROL COMMUNICATION BETWEEN A PRESSURE SPACE, AND A RESERVOIR AND SOURCE OF PRESSURE FOUID RESPECTIVELY. A PISTON LOCATED WITHIN THE PRESSURE SPACE INCORPORATES A ONEWAY VALVE PERMITTING FLOW OF FLUID PAST THE PISTON IN ONE DIRECTION, AND MEANS ARE INCORPORATED TO PERMIT A METERED FLOW OF FLUID PAST THE PISTON IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION WHEN THE ONE-WAY VALVE IS CLOSED.
