Abstract POLYMERS OF THIOPHENE AND MONOALKYL THIOPHENES COMPRISES OF FROM ABOUT 10 TO ABOUT 150 THIOPHENE MONOMER UNITS ARE PREPARED BY POLYMERIZATION OF THE MONOMER IN THE PRESENCE OF A CATALYTIC AMOUNT OF A HYDROCARBON SULFONIC ACID. THE POLYMERS, WHICH ARE ESSENTIALLY ODORLESS AND COLORLESS, ARE SELF-CURING AND USEFUL FOR PREPARING SOLVENT-RESISTANT COATINGS.
