Abstract ELECTRODES WHICH COMPRISE(A) A POROUS METAL LAYER HAVING RELATIVELY FINE PORES FORMING THE ELECTROLYTE SIDE OF THE ELECTRODE, (B) A CENTER LAYER OF POROUS METAL HAVING RELATIVELY COARSE PORES, ONE SIDE OF WHICH IS BONDED TO THE FINE PORED MEATL LAYER, AND (C) A GAS PERMEABLE LAYER OF PLASTIC BONDED ACTIVE MATERIAL WHICH FORMS THE GAS SIDE OF THE ELECTRODE AND WHICH IS BONDED TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE COARSE PORED METAL LAYER, AT LEAST A PORTION OF SUCH BONDING TAKING PLACE THROUGH PENETRATION OF THE PLASTIC BONDED MATERIAL INTO THE COARSE PORES.
