Abstract A VEHICLE SEAT CONSTRUCTED SO AS TO AUTOMATICALLY ENFOLD AND PROTECT THE OCCUPANT IN THE EVENT OF A SUDDEN VEHICLE DECELERATION. IT INCLUDES A FIXED SEAT BACK AND A MOVABLE SEAT BOTTOM. IN OPERATION THE FORWARD EDGE OF THE SEAT BOTTOM IS ABRUPTLY RAISED AND THE SEAT BOTTOM IS ROTATED SO AS TO FOLD THE OCCUPANT''S BODY BETWEEN IT AND THE SEAT BACK.
