Abstract
Abstract Ionizable substances are reacted by continuously ionizing a mixture of a first gasiform material and second gasiform material to form stable ions from the first gasiform material which undergo ion-molecule reactions with the second gasiform material to produce ions characteristic of the second material. The reaction may be conducted in a mass spectrometer which provides a volume of high pressure relative to the pressure in the mass spectrometer envelope.
