Abstract
Abstract A normally closed pressure switch having a pair of curved contact members which are backed up by parallel stiffener plates. A pair of insulating strips are mounted between the outer edges of the contact members. When pressure is applied normal to the planes of the stiffener plates, the contact members are straightened and held separated by the insulating strips.

Claim 1
Independent Claim
145 words
A normally closed pressure switch comprising: a first curved contact member having a pair of edges; a first stiffener member resting on said edges of said first contact member; a second curved contact member having a pair of edges; a second stiffener plate resting on the edges of said second contact member; means to mount said stiffener plates generally parallel to each other and movable towarD each other; said first and second curved members being curved toward each other at their center portions and normally touching each other at their center portions; and a pair of insulated strips mounted between the edges of first and second contact members, whereby said contact members are normally touching along their center portions but are straightened by said stiffener plates and separated by said insulated strips when pressure is applied normal to the parallel planes of said stiffener members.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
26 words
Apparatus as in claim 1 wherein said means to mount said stiffener plates is a flexible jacket enclosing the assembly of stiffener plates and contact members.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
14 words
Apparatus as in claim 2 wherein said jacket is a sealed moisture proof container.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
97 words
A normally closed pressure tape type switch comprising: a first curved contact member having a pair of elongated edges; a second contact member having a pair of elongated edges; an insulated member mounted between the center portions of said first and second contact members; and said first and second contact members being separated at their center portions and normally touching each other at their edge portions, whereby said contact members are normally touching their edge portions but are straightened and separated by said insulated member when pressure is applied normal to the surfaces of said contact members.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
97 words
A normally closed pressure tape type switch comprising: a first curved contact member having a pair of elongated edges; a second contact member having a pair of elongated edges; an insulated member mounted between the center portions of said first and second contact members; and said first and second contact members being separated at their center portions and normally touching each other at their edge portions, whereby said contact members are normally touching their edge portions but are straightened and separated by said insulated member when pressure is applied normal to the surfaces of said contact members.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
14 words
Apparatus as in claim 4 wherein one of said contact members is normally flat.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
13 words
Apparatus as in claim 4 wherein both of said contact members are curved.
