Abstract A STRIP IS PERMANTENTLY ELONGATED BY APPLYING A TENSION FORCE TO IT AND CONSTRAINING IT WHILE UNDER TENSION TO AT LEAST ONE BEND AND AT LEAST ONE BEND REVERSAL WHICH CAUSES YIELDING AND AN INCREMENTAL ELONGATION STRAIN THAT IS PRODUCED BETWEEN A BEND AND A SUBSEQUENT BEND REVERSAL IN WHICH THE MAGNITUDE OF INCREMENTAL ELONGATION STRAIN IS RELATED TO THE APPLIED TENSION FORCE AND APPLIED BENDING STRAINS.
