Abstract
Abstract Various substrates, including polymers that contain an aromatic nucleus, particularly phenolic resins, are plated with metals by pretreatment of the substrate surface with an alkali metal sulfide, followed by contacting the treated surface with a metal salt. The resulting treated surface is readily electroplated by conventional techniques. The metal salt treatment of the pre-treated surface can be performed by a metal salt solution in a conventional electroplating bath.
