Combination capacitor having a marginless metallized dielectric strip and a foil electrode
Abstract
Abstract 1282467 Capacitors GENERAL ELECTRIC CO 1 Oct 1969 [14 Oct 1968] 48304/69 Heading H1M Capacitor roll 10 comprises dielectric strips 11, 14, self-supporting electrode 13 which is narrower than the dielectric strips, and electrode 12 consisting of a metallized layer on strip 11 without any unmetallized margin, strip 11 extending slightly beyond strip 14 to project at one end of the roll (Fig. 2, not shown), connection to the metallized electrode being by schoop coating half an end face of the roll, and to the self-supporting electrode by a tap strap (Fig. 4, not shown). The dielectric strips may be the same or different materials, e.g. paper, polyethylene terephthalate, polysulphone and polypropylene. The electrode material may be vapour deposited aluminium, copper or zinc. The self-supporting electrode may be an aluminium foil or a paper or resin strip metallized on both sides. Foil 13 may be divided to form two or more electrodes co-operating with the single metallized electrode. The capacitor may be liquid impregnated.
