Transporting apparatus for blow molded articles

In a blow-moulding apparatus, a device for transferring blown articles 16 from the moulds 4b to a conveyer belt 24 and placing them in oriented fashion thereon comprises a cage 14, reciprocable between a point vertically below the moulds and a point vertically above the conveyer and which has a bottom 18 which supports the lower surface of the article against gravity only at a few points outside the seam on this surface of the article and which is movable relative to the rest of the cage, and stop means 21, 22 to remove the bottom 18 of the cage to deliver the article on to the conveyer 24. The bottom flash 7 is removed prior to and top flash 25 subsequently to removal of the article from the mould, the flash passing through the cage bottom 18 into trough 17. The bottom is preferably formed of horizontal bars bent downwardly at the end to form stop member 21 and vertical bars 20 hinged to the frame 15 of the cage 14. The cage is reciprocated by bars 12 until stop members 21, 22 coact to swing the cage bottom about hinge 23 to allow the article to drop on to the conveyer 24. The apparatus preferably also includes a guide shoot 30 to ensure correct orientation of the article in the cage, and also separating blade 35 which is vertically reciprocable to prevent engagement of articles falling from a multi-cavity mould.
