Apparatus for purifying contaminated gases
Abstract
Abstract 1,089,749. Gas scrubbers. H. IDEMITSU and M. IWANGA. June 22, 1965 [June 27, 1964; March 3, 1965], No. 26264/65. Heading B1R. A gas to be scrubbed is passed from an inlet pipe 8 and a fish-tail nozzle 9 to gas ducts 12 and 13 and discharged therefrom below perforated plates 19 and 20 immersed in liquid, an imperforate plate 21 being arranged above plate 19 to extend the path traversed by the bubbles of gas rising through the perforations in plates 19 and 20. The ducts 12 and 13 are open at their inlet ends and a flow of liquid therethrough is induced by the gas discharged from the nozzle 9. The scrubbed gas leaves through an outlet 24 and is driven by a blower 25 to bubble through a second body of liquid containing perforated plates 31 and 32 and an imperforate plate 33. Scrubbing liquid introduced at 4 into the upper section of the scrubber passes to the lower section through a pipe 3. In a modification (Fig. 3, not shown) the gas from the nozzle 9 enters a box-like structure immersed in liquid and having a perforated top face above which an imperforate baffle is arranged.
