Abstract 994,298. Storing liquefied gases. CHICAGO BRIDGE & IRON CO. April 30, 1964 [June 19, 1963], No. 17926/64. Heading F4P. An apparatus for preventing the formation of frost and ice below a storage tank 10, comprises a plurality of conduits 51-55 having a plurality of nozzles 60 through which dry gas is emitted to maintain the pressure of the dry gas below the tank at a level above the ambient atmospheric pressure. The dry gas which may be dry air, nitrogen or freon, is supplied to the conduits 51-55 through a conduit 50 connected to a dehumidifier or generator 40 having a pressure sensing device 70 which maintains the pressure below the concrete, sand or gravel tank foundation 20 at a predetermined level.
APPARATUS FOR THE PREVENTION OF FROST AND ICE FORMATION BELOW A STORAGE TANK COMPRISING: A PLURALITY OF CONDUITS ARRANGED IN THE GROUND SURFACE BELOW SAID TANK; MEANS FOR GENERATING SUBSTANTIALLY DRY GAS; A PLURALITY OF NOZZLES SECURED TO SAID CONDUITS THROUGH WHICH SAID DRY GAS IS EMITTED; AND MEANS FOR INTRODUCING SAID DRY GAS INTO SAID CONDUITS AND MAINTAINING THE PRESSURE OF SAID DRY GAS BELOW SAID TANK AT A LEVEL ABOVE THE AMBIENT ATMOSPHERIC PRESSURE.
