Therapeutic dental cement and a method for treating carious teeth
Abstract
Abstract A dental filling cement comprises zinc oxide cement powder containing 0.1%-1% of triamcinolone acetonide and 1.5%-3% of tetracycline demethyltetracycline or demethylchlortetracycline. For setting the cement a hardening agent such as eugenol (which may be mixed with rectified oil of turpentine) is added immediately before use. The cement may include Canada balsam or rosin. Before applying the cement the tooth cavity may be temporarily filled with a hydrophilic paste comprising triamcinolone acetonide and tetracycline, demethyltetracycline or demethylchlortetracycline with polyethylene glycol. The cement, hardening agent and hydrophilic paste may be packed separately in a pack. In filling large cavities, the dental cement is covered with a phosphate cement which may comprise zinc oxide cement powder and a hardening catalyst containing concentrated phosphoric acid and aluminium phosphate.
