Burring and finishing machine
Abstract
Abstract 963,712. Machine tools. G. KEHR, and C. H. WICKMANN. Sept. 29, 1961 [July 29, 1961], No. 35408/61. Headings B3B, B3D, B3K, B3L and B3T. A machine for deburring and cleaning gearwheels, screws &c. comprises a plurality of wire brush rolls, milling or other cutters, saw blades or grinding wheels, adjustably mounted on columns 20, a rotary table 13 for carrying the workpieces past the tools, the workpieces being unclamped at idle stations by push-rods 22a acting through cones 33 and balls 32. The table is rotated by a motor 14 rotating pins 16a, 16b, which engage a toothed wheel 17. Alternatively, a Maltese cross or gear drive may be provided. The tools are universally mounted by slides and pivots. The workpieces are mounted on spindles 22b carrying sprockets 25 engaged by a chain 24 driven by a motor 27, so that the workpieces are rotated when in contact with the tools. Each work-clamping rod 22a is actuated by a spring 29 and is raised to free the balls 32 at the work-loading area E by a wedge 35 moved in and out at the beginning and end of the area E by cams 37, 38. In a modification, the workpieces are each held by a vertical centre 42, Fig. 6, latched by a bolt 43. The bolt is released and the centre raised by cams 45, 50 when the work reaches the loading area. The work is supported, when not clamped, by spring fingers 52 on a holder 51. In a further modification, slots in a wheel 23a, Figs. 8 and 9, are deburred by a milling cutter in a sleeve which is released at the loading area by a cam 65 and raised by a spring 60 acting through levers 57, 58, 59. As the workpiece is rotated, a cam 73 on the work-holder 22 raises and lowers the cutter by linkage 67, 68, 69, 70. In a final modification, a tool 21c, Fig. 10, deburrs the sides of gear teeth under the control of a roller running on the gear 23. An automatic work-loading magazine may be provided.
