Abstract

Abstract Methods and systems are disclosed for implementation in connection with a computer system. The methods and systems practice the following: receiving an identification of (a) one or more communication methods for notification, (b) one or more mobile vehicles, and (c) one or more locations to be visited by the mobile vehicles, monitoring travel data relating to a proximity of the mobile vehicle to the location, initiating a communication with the party and, during the communication, notifying the party of the purpose of the vehicle's stop at the location.

Claim 1
Independent Claim 85 words
1 . A method for implementation in connection with a computer system, comprising the steps of: receiving an identification of (a) one or more communication methods for notification, (b) one or more mobile vehicles, and (c) one or more locations to be visited by the mobile vehicles; monitoring travel data relating to a proximity of the mobile vehicle to the location; and initiating a communication with the party and, during the communication, notifying the party of the purpose of the vehicle's stop at the location.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 85 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 55 words
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the steps are implemented by a computer system and further comprising the steps of: permitting a user to establish a communication link with the computer system; and permitting the user to define one or more preferences criteria that, once met, will cause initiation of the communication.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 37 words
3 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the user defined preferences criteria include a distance between the vehicle and a predetermined delivery stop location that corresponds to when the party wishes to receive the communication.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 39 words
4 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the user defined preferences criteria include a time period for the vehicle to reach a predetermined delivery stop location that corresponds to when the party wishes to receive the communication.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 39 words
5 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the user defined preferences criteria include a geographical region about a predetermined delivery stop location that, when the vehicle enters, corresponds to when the party wishes to receive the communication.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 33 words
6 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the user defined preferences criteria include a stop location along the vehicle's route that corresponds to when the party wishes to receive the communication.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 46 words
7 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the user defined preferences criteria include a predetermined number of stop locations along the vehicle's route that will occur prior to the subsequent delivery, the predetermined number corresponding to when the party wishes to receive the communication.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 33 words
8 . The system of claim 2 , wherein the user defined preferences criteria include a predetermined number of deliveries that will be made by the vehicle prior to making the subsequent delivery.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 32 words
9 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the computer system is implemented as a single computer or comprises a distributed architecture comprising a plurality of computers that are communicatively coupled.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 83 words
10 . A method implemented by a computer system, comprising the steps of: permitting a user to define a plurality of different predetermined proximities corresponding respectively with a plurality of different mobile vehicles in relation to a location; monitoring travel data associated with the plurality of mobile vehicles; providing one or more communications to the user based upon the different predetermined proximities associated with the vehicles; and during the one or more communications, indicating a reason for a vehicle stop at the location.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim 83 words
10 . A method implemented by a computer system, comprising the steps of: permitting a user to define a plurality of different predetermined proximities corresponding respectively with a plurality of different mobile vehicles in relation to a location; monitoring travel data associated with the plurality of mobile vehicles; providing one or more communications to the user based upon the different predetermined proximities associated with the vehicles; and during the one or more communications, indicating a reason for a vehicle stop at the location.
Claim 13
Dependent Claim 79 words
11 . The method of claim 10 , further comprising the steps of: providing a first message from the computer system to the user regarding a first one of the vehicles during a first communications link; providing a second message from the computer system to the user regarding a second one of the vehicles during a communications link; and wherein the first and second messages indicate a type associated with the first and second ones of the vehicles, respectively.
Claim 14
Dependent Claim 32 words
12 . The method of claim 10 , wherein the computer system is implemented as a single computer or comprises a distributed architecture comprising a plurality of computers that are communicatively coupled.
Claim 15
Dependent Claim 80 words
13 . A system, comprising: means for receiving an identification of (a) one or more communication methods for notification, (b) one or more mobile vehicles, and (c) one or more locations to be visited by the mobile vehicles; means for monitoring travel data relating to a proximity of the mobile vehicle to the location; and means for initiating a communication with the party and, during the communication, notifying the party of the purpose of the vehicle's stop at the location.
Claim 16
Dependent Claim 80 words
13 . A system, comprising: means for receiving an identification of (a) one or more communication methods for notification, (b) one or more mobile vehicles, and (c) one or more locations to be visited by the mobile vehicles; means for monitoring travel data relating to a proximity of the mobile vehicle to the location; and means for initiating a communication with the party and, during the communication, notifying the party of the purpose of the vehicle's stop at the location.
Claim 17
Dependent Claim 83 words
14 . A system, comprising: means for permitting a user to define a plurality of different predetermined proximities corresponding respectively with a plurality of different mobile vehicles in relation to a location; means for monitoring travel data associated with the plurality of mobile vehicles; means for providing one or more communications to the user based upon the different predetermined proximities associated with the vehicles; and means for, during the one or more communications, indicating a reason for a vehicle stop at the location.
Claim 18
Dependent Claim 83 words
