Abstract

Abstract Methods and apparatus of forming hydrogel systems in situ are provided using a delivery system configured to deliver two or more fluent prepolymer solutions without premature crosslinking. The delivery system comprises separate first and second lumens coupling first and second inlet ports and first and second outlet ports, respectively, and may include a balloon, flexible distal region, mixing chamber or steerable distal end. Multi-component hydrogel systems suitable for use with the inventive methods and apparatus are also described.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 7
Claim 1
Independent Claim 104 words
37 . Apparatus for depositing a polymer within a space within a body comprising: a catheter having proximal and distal ends, first and second inlet ports disposed at the proximal end, first and second outlet ports disposed at the distal end, a first lumen coupling the first inlet port to the first outlet port, and a second lumen coupling the second inlet port to the second outlet port, wherein the catheter is configured to inject into the space fluent solutions that crosslink when mixed, the first and second lumens configured so that the premature crosslinking of the solutions does not occur within the catheter.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 22 words
38 . The apparatus as defined in claim 37 wherein the catheter is configured to be transcervically inserted into a fallopian tube.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 45 words
39 . The apparatus as defined in claim 37 wherein the catheter further comprises a guidewire inlet port disposed at the proximal end, a guidewire outlet port disposed at the distal end, and a lumen coupling the guidewire inlet port to the guidewire outlet port.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 33 words
40 . The apparatus as defined in claim 37 wherein one of the first and second lumens is adapted to accept a guidewire to assist in placing the distal end within the space.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 32 words
41 . The apparatus as defined in claim 37 wherein a distal region of the catheter comprises a flexible material that permits the distal end of the catheter to be flow directed.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 14 words
42 . The apparatus of claim 37 further comprising at least one radio-opaque marker.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 47 words
43 . The apparatus as defined in claim 37 further comprising: a mixing chamber having a proximal end and a distal end, the mixing chamber coupled to the first and second outlet ports at the proximal end and coupled to an extrusion port at the distal end.
