Abstract
Abstract 355,616. Friction vibration-dampers. ARMSTRONG, J. J. V., 12, Church Street, Liverpool.-(Assignee of Skillman, N.; 19212, Canterbury Road, Detroit, Michigan, U.S.A.) Dec. 9, 1930, No. 37047. Convention date, Dec. 9, 1929. [Class 108 (iii).] A ball-jointed link, particularly for shock absorbers of motor vehicles, is divided longitudinally, each half having a, hemispherical socket at each end, and has bushings composed of lubricantimpregnated fibrous material which are compressed round the balls when the halves of the link are brought together. The bushing 2 is wrapped round the ball and held in place by pressing a ring 5 over it, and the ball and bushing are then inserted into the housing 9 in one half of the link, the bushing being located by the inturned edges 11 of the aperture for the ball stud. The other half of the link is pressed over the bushings, forcing the rings 5 further on, and the bushings are thus compressed round the balls, being located in the housings 8 on this half of the link bv shoulders 10. The halves of the link are permanently fixed together by bending the flange 13 of the first-mentioned half of the link to enclose the flange 12 of the other half.
