Abstract

Abstract Part of the sail may be folded, with battens around the mast, and fitted with gauze to the rear part of the sail. The battens may be tensioned by lines. The board has a rigid hingeable mast (2) to which a boom (4) is connected, enabling the surfer to steer and also steady himself. A broad mast sleeve has battens (7) bent around the mast, to form a wing profile. Gauze strips are fitted to the rear sail (9), forming a slotted part, enabling an air current to pass from the wind side to the lee-side. This construction reduces air turbulence at the lee-side. The gauze enables excess water to flow freely from the wing profile.
