Abstract
Abstract Lining plates based on bitumen, esp. on asphalt or asphalt-concrete, have a layer of reinforcing material which protrudes beyond the plate on at least one side; the protruding reinforcement forms a loop. Even very hearvy plates, possibly weighing up to 12 tons, can easily be handled by inserting a metal rod through the loop and attaching the hook of a crane to this rod. The plates can be used for lining waterways and dikes, above or below the water-line. They are useful also as water-tight coverings for soil and a floor and side sheets.
