Metal-resin mixtures for producing rein-forced structures
Abstract
Abstract A resin mixture containing a metal powder, to be used for the production of reinforced resin articles, is prepared by grinding the metal powder in a vibrating ball mill with a liquid component of the resin mixture until the particle size of the metal powder is 1 mu, followed by addition of any other components. When the resin mixture is used to impregnate reinforcing materials, it penetrates completely into the reinforcement, without the use of pressure. The hardened resin has a modulus of elasticity of the same order as that of a construction metal. Articles such as tanks, pipes, ships' hulls, corrugated sheets for building, plane sheets for doors, skis, aeroplane parts, rocket parts and armour-plate can be produced.
