Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE: To prevent a long time lag of release and useless power consumption by providing an action control means selectively operating a stroboscopic photographing preparation means according to the result obtained by a distance measuring means and a photometric means. CONSTITUTION: The action control means 102 operates a battery checking means for securing the voltage of a power source in order to advance operation. When the voltage of the power source is holding a sufficiently high level is discriminated the means 102 immediately operates the distance measuring means 104 and the photometric means 105 irrespective of the operation of a release button, obtains information about a distance up to an object and brightness (EV value), and discriminates whether photographing needs stroboscopic light or not. When the means 102 discriminates micro-photographing and low brightness photographing, it instructs the stroboscopic photographing preparation means 106 to charge stroboscopic light, thereby obtaining a state where stroboscopic photographing along with the operation of the release button is ready.
