Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To analyze an original sentence in accordance with specification by means of stored information by specifying words having modificatory relation to each other, storing the specified words and determining the modificatory relation in the syntax analysis of the original sentence. CONSTITUTION:An original sentence to be translated is stored in an original sentence storage part 2 through an input part 1 and translated by a translation part 5 by means of the contents of a translation dictionary 6 and the translated result is stored in a translated sentence storage part 3. Then, an edition control part 4 displays the original sentence and the translated sentence on a display part 8 and executes the edition processing of the original sentence or the translated sentence displayed on the display part 8 in accordance with an edition key or a cursor key. When an optional word in the original sentence and a word modified by the word are specified from the input part 1 in said constitution, the translation part 5 analyzes the original sentence in accordance with the specification and a complex original sentence having crossed modificatory relation can be easily translated.
