Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To improve the reliability of a nuclear reactor by controlling the dissolved oxygen concn. of a reactor coolant cleaning system so as to maintain said concn. at >=20ppb. CONSTITUTION:A carbon steel is used for the piping material of the reactor coolant cleaning system piping 21 installed via a reactor coolant cleaning system pump 12 and a reactor coolant cleaning device 13 to a feed water piping 10 and a stainless steel is used for the other piping material in which the reactor coolant is passed. Hydrogen is supplied to the piping 10 by an oxygen injection device 9 and the concn. of the dissolved hydrogen in the coolant is kept controlled so as not to exceed 20ppb during the operation of the reactor. Oxygen is simultaneously injected from an oxygen injection device 19 to the piping 21 in the reactor coolant cleaning system and an oxygen injection control device 20 controls the device 19 to control the injection rate of the oxygen in accordance with the value detected by a dissolved oxygen concn. detector 18 so that the concn. of the dissolved oxygen in the piping 21 is maintained at >=20ppb. The corrosion and elution of the piping systems for which the stainless steel or carbon steel is used is thereby controlled and the reliability of the reactor is improved.
