Optical element generation method
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To enable generating and processing an optical element with one turn of a workpiece spindle by positioning a workpiece off the axial center of the spindle and setting a tool spindle in the same plane as the workpiece spindle in such a way that the axial centers of said spindles agree to each other at a corresponding position between the workpiece spindle and a grindstone. CONSTITUTION:A workpiece 10 is retained on the workpiece mounting surface 13a of a workpiece holder 13 provided at the tip of a workpiece spindle 12, and set to the predetermined position off the axial center of the workpiece spindle 12. Then, a tool spindle 14 is set in the same plane as the workpiece spindle 12. In this case, the axial center 15 of the workpiece 10 is made to agree to the axial line 16 of the tool spindle 14, when the workpiece spindle 12 turns to a position corresponding to a grindstone 11. And the tool spindle 14 is preliminarily set to the predetermined position so as to enable giving a desired amount of cut to the workpiece 10 when the workpiece spindle 12 turns. Thereafter, the tool spindle 14 is rotated at a high speed and the workpiece spindle 12 is rotated without shifting the position thereof. And a desired amount of cut is made on the workpiece 10, thereby generating an optical element.
