Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To improve the accuracy of a cell gap and to obtain an element which is decreased in unequal colors and has excellent display quality by using spacers consisting of spherical particles having <=0.3mum standard deviation of spherical size and specifying the dispersion density thereof to >=100 pieces/mm<2> and <=200 pieces/mm<2>. CONSTITUTION:This liquid crystal display element is constituted by consisting the same of at least a pair of plastic films, forming transparent electrode films on the inside thereof, dispersing and disposing the spacers between these plastic substrates, sealing the substrates via a sealing material interposed in the peripheral part and sealing a liquid crystal between the substrates. The spacers consist of the spherical particles having <=0.3mum standard deviation of the spherical size and the standard deviation value of the spherical grain size value of the beads having >=100 pieces/mm<2> and <=200 pieces/mm<2> dispersion density is maintained at <=0.3mum to control the accuracy of the cell gap within a + or -0.05m range. The uniform display colors with which the unequal colors are substantially visually unidentifiable are thereby obtd. The display element which has no unequal colors at all and has the high display quality is thus obtd.
