Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To save the number of the image pickup cells of an image pickup element by executing the signal processing with a signal obtained from two lines of the image pickup element as a pair. CONSTITUTION:A signal inputted to a first sample-hold circuit 3 is taken out from a line having the arrangement of the image pickup cell where a filter of W is continued and a signal inputted to a 2nd sample-hold circuit is taken out from a line having the arrangement of the image pickup cell where the filters of R, G and B are arranged dot-sequentially. The switching frequency of a switch 8 is synchronized with the clock frequency of the reading of an image pickup element 2. After a Y signal obtained from the cell of W is processed by a first sample-hold circuit 3 and a first gamma correcting circuit 5, only the reading time of two image elements of the image pickup element 2 is delayed by a first 2-word delaying 7. The signals from the image pickup cells of R, G and B are sent through a second sample-hold circuit 4, a second correcting circuit 6 and word delays 9 and 10 to a matrix circuit 11.
