Permanent magnet and its manufacture
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To improve the coercive force of a permanent magnet by using specific additional elements to provide either a microcrystalline phase or a combination of microcrystal and amorphous phases. CONSTITUTION:A permanent magnet consists of {Ra(CebLa1-b)1-a}x(Fe1-zCoz)100-x-y-wByMw, (wherein R is at least one kind of rare earth elements including Y but excluding Ce or La, 5.5<=x<=20, 2<=y<15, 0<=z<=0.7, 0<w<=10, 0.80<=a<=1.00, 0<=b<=1, and M is at least one kind of elements among Ti, V, and Cr), and either a microcrystalline phase or a combination of microcrystal and amorphous phases Molten alloys of Fe-R-B and Fe-Co-R-B system in this composition is quenched and solidified at a very high speed by the so-called liquid quenching method. According to the constitution, the coercive force of the permanent magnet is improved.
