Measuring apparatus for analyzing gas mixture
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE: To quasi-continuously monitor a gas mixture even when a sensor which very slowly responds to the gas mixture is used by cyclically repeating measurement and reproduction phases so that each cycle can contain at least one measurement cycle and one reproduction cycle. CONSTITUTION: A detector 1 is composed of a flat type battery 2 and a catalyst element 3. The battery 3 has a ceramic supporting plate 4 and a heater layer 6 and a thin film gas sensor 7 made of a semiconducting material composed mainly of phthalocyanine are respectively provided on the lower and upper surfaces of the plate 4. The element 3 resolves a gas into conversion products and the sensor 7 detects the products. A sequence of a measurement phase and a reproduction phase is cyclically repeated so that each cycle can contain at least one measurement phase and reproduction phase and the measurement phase is much shorter than the time required by the sensor 7 until it reaches 90% of the final deflection. During the measurement phase, in addition, the temperature of the element 3 is lowered and the temperature of the sensor 7 is raised so that the conversion products can be discharged by an amount larger than the receiving amount of the sensor 7.
