Background correction method

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To appropriately correct a background by immediately replacing a background picture by a processing picture when a density change between the background picture and the present processing picture is small, and gradually replacing the background when the density change is large. CONSTITUTION:Picture element density values Y(I,J) and X(I,J) are obtained with respect to the coordinate (I,J) of the background picture and the coordinate (I,J) of the present processing picture. If the absolute value of the difference Y(I,J)-X(I,J) is not larger than a minute density value epsilon, a background replacing processing is immediately executed, and if the absolute value is larger than the value epsilon, the background replacing processing is gradually executed.
