Optical record reader

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To prevent the deterioration by a fine movement of an optical system mechanical driving, by switching electrically and optically the light path of a laser beam for reading an optical record and making an access between tracks to open the interval. CONSTITUTION:A light from a laser light source 14, after it passes through a half mirror 16, is made incident on a light switching array 17, reflected downwards with the polarization beam splitter of an optical switch selected by a light control system 19 and an optical disk 20 is irradiated through a light path control system. When the light is completely reflected on a recording surface, the light is detected by a photodetector 15 at a reverse channel, when it is scattered, the light is not detected and record is read. These optical systems are unified, the access between the tracks of the optical disk is executed by a fine moving actuator such as a piezoelectric element is executed, the access except it is executed electrically and optically and thus, the access time can be shortened and the mechanical deterioration can be prevented.
