Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To enhance the quality of an element by forming the sealing pattern of a liquid crystal injection port to a prescribed shape, thereby decreasing the fluctuation in the width of the liquid crystal injection port, maintaining nearly the specified time for liquid injection and allowing the control of the gap size between upper and lower substrates with high accuracy. CONSTITUTION:Two pieces of the sealing patterns 3d arriving at the sides of the glass substrates 1, 2 are provided at the spacing wider than the width of the liquid crystal injection pot perpendicularly to the patterns to form the cell sealing pattern 3 to be positioned on the inner side of the substrates 1, 2 on the side of the liquid crystal cell where the liquid crystal injection port is installed in parallel therewith. The injection port is disposed to the intermediate of the connection points in the respective base parts of these projected sealing patterns 3d. The width of the sealing patterns 3c of the part arriving at both ends of the injection port from the respective base parts is set smaller than the width in the other part of the sealing pattern 3. As a result, the spacing (width of the injection port) in the end parts of the sealing pattern 3c is hardly changed.
