Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To improve a turning property, starting performance, straight advancing stability, etc. by increasing the engaging force of a clutch in the direction of driving four wheels in accordance with the difference in rotating speed between front and rear wheels, while varyingly controlling the increasing rate of the clutch engaging force in inverse proportion to the variation in lateral acceleration. CONSTITUTION:A means 1 is provided in the driving system of an engine to vary a transmitting torque through an external engaging force. Also, a means 3 increasingly/ reducingly controls the engaging force of the means 1 based on the detected signals of a means 2. In this structure, the means 2 consists of a means 201 for detecting the difference in rotating speed between front and rear wheels, a means 202 for detecting lateral acceleration, and a means 203 for detecting the acceleration of driving wheels. And, the means 3 increases the engaging force in the direction of engaging four wheels in accordance with the difference in rotating speed between front and rear wheels, while varyingly controlling the increasing rate of the engaging force in inverse proportion to variation in lateral acceleration. And, when the lateral acceleration is lower than a set value, the increasing rate of the engaging force is further increased.
