Production of optical cable

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To enable the selection of an arbitrary groove pitch in an aggregating stage by constituting a production stage of grooves spacers and the aggregating stage for housing optical fibers or optical fiber units into the grooves of the spacers of a series of production stages and disposing a stage for grooving of the spacers just before the aggregation point of the aggregating stage. CONSTITUTION:The production stage for the grooved spacer 20 and the aggregating stage for the optical fiber or optical fiber units 6 are constituted of a series of the production stages and particularly the stage for grooving the spacer is disposed just before the aggregation point 5 of the aggregating stage. The aggregation point 5 where the optical fiber or optical fiber units 6 are housed in the grooves of the grooved spacer 20 and the position where the grooves 12 are formed on the outside circumference of the spacer body by cutting are fixed to the proximity position of 1-2 times the groove pitch and, therefore, the groove positions within the section of the grooved spacer 20 are made to exist in the position at the aggregation point 5 where the groove positions do not fluctuate at all. Since the groove pitch is determined by the ratio of the rotating speed and take-off speed at which the spacer body is taken off under rotation, the fluctuation in the groove pitch is substantially negligible and the arbitrary groove pitch is selectable in the aggregating stage.
