Water-base ink composition
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To obtain a water-base ink composition which has excellent ejection characteristics, is free from clogging and, in particular, gives a printed image with excellent definition, water resistance, and light resistance, by incorporating a specified water-soluble dye into a water-base ink. CONSTITUTION:A water-base ink containing at least one water-soluble dye of the formula, wherein R1 is H, alkyl, alkoxy, hydroxyalkyl, halogen, amino, nitro, carbamoyl or sulfamoyl; R2 and R3 are each H or alkyl and M is H, Li, K, Na, quaternary ammonium or an organic amine. The content of said dye is 0.5-20wt.%, preferably 1.5-6wt.%, based on the total ink. If the content is less than 0.5wt.%, the dye will have little effect as coloring agent so that the color of a printed image obtained will be unsatisfactory; if above 20wt.%, deposition tends to occur in an ink after a long time so that ink jet recording cannot be performed satisfactorily.
