In-circuit emulator
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To debug a target program of a large capacity by an emulation memory of a small capacity, by adding a breaking signal to an address mapping RAM, and adding a means for storing a program counter of a target muP at the time when the breaking signal has been outputted. CONSTITUTION:When the execution of a target microprocessor muP1 has reached an address which is not brought to mapping on an emulation memory 3, the target muP1 is stopped, and by a control CPU 6, a part of a data of the emulation memory 3 is saved to a secondary storage device 7. Simultaneously, a program containing an address which has been broken is saved from the secondary storage device 7 and transferred to a part of the emulation memory 3 which has become a dead area, and from the address which has been broken, the program is re-executed. In such a way, a target program of a large capacity can be debugged by the emulation memory 3 of a small capacity.
