Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE: To secure protection from injury due to reversing rotation or the like by providing means to bias a protecting bar attached to a pivot means supported by a bracket toward a rest position of the chain saw in operation. CONSTITUTION: The chain saw is equipped with a U-shaped mounting bracket 1, pivot bolt 8 holds support bar 11, which holds protecting bar 12. Spring 13 is fastened to the support bar 11 and upper member 2 of the bracket 1, and biases the support bar 11 toward engagement with upper member 2 so as to keep the protecting bar 12 in parallel with upper runway of the chain. Bracket 1 holds the first mounting plate 14, and with regard to channel part 17, plate 18 is fixed to the chain saw main body with one or plural bolts 20 for the chain bar. Because the edge of the protecting bar 12 and end fitting 24 extrude beyond the tip of chain saw to engage with surface of the object, the bar 12 turns apart from the chain saw against action of spring 13.
