Foldable seat for automobile

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To make it compactly fold a seat by providing a seat cushion which is invertable about the front side thereof, by providing a seat back which is tiltable forward up to a substantially horizontal position about the lower side thereof, and by providing an upper side member which is rotated reaward in association with the forward tilt of a seat back. CONSTITUTION:In a foldable seat 20 composed of a seat cushion 5 which is invertable about a first hinge 4 provided on the front side and a seat back 21 which is tiltable about a second hinge 6 provided on the lower side thereof up to substantially horizontal position, the seat back 21 is composed of an upper side member 22 and a lower side member 23. The frames 24, 26 of both member 22, 23 are coupled by means of a hinge member 28 which is arranged so that they are inhibited from being rotated during standing of the seat back 21, but the upper side member 22 is rotated toward the rear surface of the seat back 21 in association with forward tilt of the back 21. Such a hinge member 28 is arranged so that a center bracket 36 is rotated by a wire 38 which pulled during forward tilt of the seat back 21 so as to exhibit the above- mentioned function.
