Frequency modulator

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To easily and accurately obtain the frequency and the power of a carrier by changing a phase comparison frequency at the time of adjustment of a modulated output signal. CONSTITUTION:At the time of normal modulating operation, a variable frequency divider 7 performs the frequency dividing operation by a frequency division number R to generate a phase comparison frequency fPD and a variable frequency divider 4 incorporated in a phase locked loop performs the frequency dividing operation by a frequency division number N and a frequency division number (N-1) for the high level and the low level of a data signal to generate and output a modulated output signal fout. At the time of non-modulation, a control part 8 variably sets the frequency division number of the variable frequency divider 7 to (RX2) and variably sets that of the variable frequency divider 4 to (2N-1). Thus, a non-modulated carrier signal f0 is very easily obtained, and the frequency f0 and the power of the carrier are measured with a high precision.
