Polycarbonate resin composition

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To obtain the title composition which is suitable as a material for optical elements, excels in transparency, heat resistance, moisture resistance, mechanical strengths, etc., and can control the occurrence of double refraction during molding, by mixing two polycarbonates of different molecular structures together. CONSTITUTION:A polycarbonate resin composition comprising 5-95wt.% polycarbonate having repeating units of formula I [wherein X is an (aryl-substituted) alkylene, a cycloalkylene, O, S, SO or SO2, n is 0 or 1, R<1> and R<2> are each a halogen, an alkyl, an alkoxyl or an aryl, and l and m are each 0 or 1-3] and 95-5wt.% polycarbonate (B) having repeating units of formula II (wherein X' is the same as X, R<3> and R<4> are the same as R<1> and R<2>, respectively, and l' and m' are each 0 or 1-4). This resin composition has excellent transparency, heat resistance, moisture resistance, mechanical strengths, etc. and a small photoelastic constant, can control the occurrence of double refraction, and can be suitably used for, especially, elements of various optical devices and instruments.
