Torque meter
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE: To enable measurement even when a shaft does not rotate and to measure exact torque without being affected by temp. by transmitting the current to be passed to excitation coils and the voltage of detecting coils between a static side and rotating side by means of two rotary transformers. CONSTITUTION: The mating area of teeth 10a, 10b for detection wound with the detecting coil 13a changes differentially with the angle of torsion by the torque and, therefore, the magnetic resistance thereof changes differentially as well. The quantity at which the magnetic fluxes generated by the excitation coil 11a, 11b pass the inside of the coils 13a, therefore, change differentially without the torque and the voltage proportional to the torque is obtd. by differentially connecting the coil 13a and the other detecting coil not shown. Since the rotary transformers 14a, 14b and 15a, 15b are used for transmission of the rotating side and the static side, the measurement of the torque is feasible even at the static time. The magnetic fluxes to be generated in the excitation coils are kept constant even if the magnetic permeability of the toothed rings changes with a temp. change and the exact measurement of the torque is enabled by maintaining the AC current to be passed to the excitation side rotary transformer constant.
