Composition for imparting hydrophilicity to heat exchanger fin and method for imparting hydrophilicity using the same
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To provide the title compsn. which is capable of imparting excellent corrosion resistance, hydrophilicity retention and resistance against metal mold abrasion, by mixing a solution composed of polyvinyl alcohol and a polysaccharide (deriv.) prepared by heating them with a particular org. coordinated alkoxide compd. CONSTITUTION:A solution composed of polyvinyl alcohol (A) and a polysaccharide or a deriv. thereof (B) (e.g., carboxymethylcellulose) prepared by heating them is mixed with at least one org. coordinated alkoxide compd. (C) of an element selected from Ti, Zr and Al [e.g., diisopropoxybis(acetylacetonato) titanium], thereby preparing a compsn. for imparting hydrophilicity to a heat exchanger fin. In the use of this compsn., a chromate coating is first formed on the surface of an aluminum fin material of a heat exchanger, and then the compsn. is applied onto the top of the chromate coating. Thus, the hydrophilicity is imparted to the fin.
