Line-type thermal transfer printer
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To prevent defective printing from being continued, by providing a function of detecting an abnormal condition for each printing of one piece of data when transfer is failed. CONSTITUTION:A rolled form paper 12 and an ink film 8 are fed at the same velocity by clamping and frictional forces between a platen 11 and a thermal head 1, and the head 1 is driven to print. After predetermined data printing is finished, the paper 12 is fed further forward until a cutting position thereof is fed to the position of a cutter 15, while the head 1 performs a predetermined test pattern printing. As a result, the ink film 8 has a test pattern devoid of an ink, and the test pattern comes to the position of a transmittance sensor 30 just at the moment the cutting position of the paper is fed to the position of the cutter 15. The transmittance of the ink film having the test pattern devoid of the ink is checked by the sensor 30. When the transmittance is lower then a predetermined value, the printed data paper is cut by the cutter 15, an alarm is issued, and the next data printing is stopped, thereby preventing the subsequent printing from being continued in the defective transfer condition.
