Passbook processing device

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To prevent a passbook issuance error, by reading and recognizing printed characters on a passbook cover by an optical manner. CONSTITUTION:A passbook 2 is inserted from a passbook inserting port 31 in an opened state, the tip end thereof is detected by an optical sensor 4a, feed rollers 5a, 5b send the passbook 2 into a device, and the tip end thereof is detected by an optical sensor 4b. At this time, the passbook 2 is fed by the predetermined amount so that a magnetic head 6 is positioned under magnetic stripes 18 of the passbook 2, and stopped. The magnetic head 6 reads predetermined data from the magnetic stripes 18 and writes the data. In the magnetic stripes 18, a bank branch name code, an account number, the printing instruction page number, the printing instruction line number, and others are recorded. The printing instruction line number is read, a printing line position is determined, the feed rollers 5b and 5c are driven, the passbook is stopped with a line next to a printed line corresponding to a printing head 7, and the printing head 7 conducts printing on the passbook 2. An unused passbook 2a is pinched between feed rollers 5f, detected by a sensor 4c, positioned, optically read, passed under a recognition part 3, and stopped under the printing head 7.
