Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To maintain sufficient lubricity with a system of a small spacing loss by forming a required film by vacuum evaporation on a thin ferromagnetic metallic film under exposure to glow discharge contg. water. CONSTITUTION:Gaseous argon contg. water is glow-discharged from a high-frequency coil 5 bored with many holes in a vacuum vessel 9 and fatty acid or carboxylic acid 7 which is a vapor source in a container 6 is deposited by evaporation on the thin ferromagnetic metallic film on a high-polymer film 1 to be guided by a roller 4 of a rotary support. The fatty acid or carboxylic acid is more easily oriented by reacting with the metal according to this method, by which the wear and friction under high-speed sliding is greatly decreased. The sufficient lubricity is thus maintained and the durability is enhanced with the system of the small spacing loss.
