Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To improve a signal to noise ratio, by providing a second horizontal shift register, which is driven by the same clocks and arranged in parallel, in addition to a first horizontal shift register for transferring signal charge, which is vertically transferred from a light sensitive part, to a 1H signal, and providing a second output part, which outputs a signal that is delayed by one horizontal period from the signal of the first output part of the first horizontal shift register by way of the second horizontal shift register. CONSTITUTION:A floating gate electrode 11, which detects signal charge without destruction, and an amplifier 3 are combined, and an output in an ordinary method is obtained. The signal charge, whose amount of charge is detected by non-destructive reading, becomes the charge to be transferred in a second horizontal CCD shift register 2b. The transfer operation is performed by the same driving clock pulses in the horizontal CCD shift register, at the main parts of two channels 2f and 2b of the horizontal CCD shift register. A solid-state image sensing element has a second horizontal shift register, which is in parallel with the first horizontal shift register and has approximately the same constitution as the first horizontal register. The charge is transferred by the same clock pulses as in the first horizontal shift register. In this constitution, an output, which is delayed by one horizontal period, can be readily obtained together with the ordinary signal output.
