Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To reduce the number of processes to generate an optical fiber composite overhead earth-wire by twisting element wires via a die, holding it with a temporary holding device, rotating it in the opposite direction to the rotating direction of a twisting machine to reduce the twist pitch, then passing it through the holding device, and returning to the desired pitch. CONSTITUTION:A twisting machine main body 1 is rotated in the arrow P direction, while a winding roll 4 is once rotated in the opposite arrow Q direction, a tight twisting action is generated on a twisted wire in the area A between a die 3 and the roll 4, and it is tightly twisted at a pitch shorter than the desired twist pitch. The plastic deformation is applied to twisted high-tension element wires 11 by this tight twisting force, and the twist quirk is given. The twisted wire is then fed to the area B and wound on a capstan. Since the capstan is not rotated, the rotation Q acts in the direction to untwist the twisted wire in the area B. The short pitch of the twisted wire excessively and tightly twisted in the area A is returned to the original pitch, and an overhead earth- wire 10 is wound on the capstan with the desired twist pitch.
